SCT switch mounting trouble

Today i got my SCT switch in from motor haven. I installed it properly and everything was going just fine. Then, it hit me, i need to route the switch from the computer box to inside the cab. This is where i am stuck. I dont see any way i can do this. If anybody can shed some light, it would be appreciated greatly.

The instructions had some hints. It said use some rope from the box to the mounting place of my choice. Well, i cant find a way to do this because there's the firewall and all. There is a hole behind the computer box but it doesnt seem to lead into the cab all the way. It seems to stop at the windshield vent i think.

BTW i have a 2002 Ford Ranger Edge extended cab with a 3.0L auto trans.

in the mean time, im going try to fix this myself, ill check back periodicly.

Ok well how is it all connected? Wires? You might have to cut them to run them through the firewall, then reattach them all.

Since you have an auto, there outta be an empty grommet where your clutch woulda exited. How big of a switch are you trying to push through here?

We don't include the cable mounting information for two reasons:

1. There are so many different Ford vehicles.
2. There are many different places to install them.

Some people mount them in the glove box, others under the dash edge and some on the steering column. A really popular place is the ash tray. When its closed the switch can't be accidently moved, but its easy to get to when you want to change it. And, if you ever sell the chip you can go by a salvage yard to get a replacement ash tray and you won't have worry about any drilled holes.

On the Ranger there's a hole in the back of the box holding the computer. If you remove the glove box its easier to get to it rather than fighting with pulling through the cable blindly. I also recommend attaching some string to the cable. Route the string to where you want the cable to go and then pull the cable through.

After closer inspection, i mounted it though a grommet that a cable was going through. I used some velcrow and some Macgyver skills. I wish the cable was about 2' longer but i bet i can find an extension of some sort at the local radio shack. I would like to mount it near my dash diming control wheel thingy.

Thanx you two for the help! Now im off to see this sucker in action(with the video camera in hand of course)! Ranger, ill post in your thread you made of the results like i mentioned a few days ago.
