I've never heard any arguments against cleaning injectors. Most auto manufacturers reccomend the proceedure at certain intervals. In addition to that, It's a good idea to use a lint free cloth moistened with carb cleaner and wipe the inside of the throttle body where the throttle blades close. An oily residue builds up there and can cause stalling and poor idle issues. If the oxygen sensors have never been replaced, I'd look into a fresh set of those as well. This, in addition to a good tune up, should keep that 300 running strong for a long time.
Check the throttle bore before you clean it. Most have a sticker saying there is a special coating and not to clean the bore. If you look inside, and see a build up of crud, though, it would probably be ok to ignore that warning. If there is a lot of stuff in there, you may want to pull the idle air solenoid off and clean it out as well.
