Question parking brake and od trans question?

I am wanting to install a heavy duty overdrive 5spd manual trans in my F6 my problem is I would like to keep my hand brake (my rear axle dosnt have e-brake provisions) but the newer transmissions I've seen do not have the bolt holes for a hand brake. and I,m pretty sure my trans yoke will not fit either anyone know for sure?

I don't know about yours, but my 4 speed with the hand brake is WAY shorter than a new trans. How comfortable are you with fabricating several parts?

What about purchasing an aftermarket handbrake from someone like Lokar?

How would you keep the brake. Does the F6 have the brake on the drive shaft? I replaced the engine, trans, and rear end in my 54 F250 and kept my original hand brake. I fabbed a bracket that bolted to the cab cover over the transmission using the original hole and emerg. brake. I then used cable connected to that to connect to the newer style rearend with the emergency brakes in the rear drums. If your rearend doesn't have an emergency brake can you use what is there with the newer style tranny?

I just went thru this with my f600. Changed out engine and tranny and had no e brake. I built my own with a brake rotor from an MGB(got lots of those laying around) and a rear disc brake from a mid 90's Taurus. The Taurus has rear discs and the e brake is with the hydraulic brakes. I centered the rotor on the tranny yoke drilled mounting holes, it mounts behind the yoke using the bolts for the u-joint. Fabbed up a bracket off of the rear tranny mount for the caliper and connected to original handle. Works good. The bitch is getting everything centered and true.

This place never ceases to amaze me on the ways that folks are able to make something work when there isn't an off the shelf part.

That will be a problem with my F-600 too.

I have considered using a Ford E4OD transmission. THe one on a friend of mines Superduty (1994) HAS an Ebrake on the back of the trans. I think it's possible that other manual transmissions for the 1.5+ Ton trucks might too.

I was surprised that his 94 Ford had the ebrake on the back of the trans too. I thought that was an "old truck" thing too but evidently it's very common on newer (medium) trucks too.
