Test score ..................
Reliability ....................
Crash protection ....... NA
The graphics for the test score & reliability did not copy over, but my main point is the NA on the crash protection....How can you make that the Top pick-up???
Because the Ridgeline is based on another model that does have good crash test results. So it is entirely reasonable to expect it to have good crash results too. Once the gov't actually crashes a Ridgeline, if it does poorly, CU will remove the Ridgeline from the list.
Always remember that Consumer's Reports uses their subscribers as their survey sample. In other words, the sample is self selected, not random. So, if subscribers to Consumer Reports favor Japanese cars, then the expected result from a survey of subscribers will be favorable towards Japanese cars. Consumer's Reports does not randomly sample the general car owning population of the United States for their surveys, so the results are automatically skewed. Take it with a grain of salt, because from what I've seen, most readers of Consumer's Reports really don't know much about cars, yet they form the survey pool. It's just unfortunate that this group has so much pull with the left-leaning media in this country, who use it as more evidence that America can't do anything right, and something made by a company headquartered overseas is superior to a domestically produced product.
they only like looks, and style.....not reliablitly. try driving a bronco II around while all your friends have accords, civics, and ither jap cars..that what im going to deal with. oh well ford is a ford

You must have seen a lot. I am one of those in the CU survey pool. Have been for years. I gave my F-250, F-150 and X glowing reviews . . . for several years. Ditto my Ram 1500, my GTO and my Buick.
I don't own any "Japanese" nameplate cars, so I did not provide any "skewing" input on any of them.
I did hammer my Volvo. Piece of crap for the money.
I was watching the local news and they talked about no american cars making the top 20.They had a reporter at the auto show talking to a ford rep.He kinda laughed when the reporter mentioned the ridgeline being truck of the year."Yeah but unlike a ford if you were to work that thing on and off the road for a 150,000 miles it would more than likely be in the junkyard".
we know ford is the best over all others, which is why were here, right? I dont see it a problem to say our opinions here that dont striclty consist of tech talk.
Given that the Read First in this forum specifically states: ONLY TECH TALK IS ALLOWED IN THIS FORUM
The purpose of this forum is to make intelligent comparisons of other makes against ford. They don't have to be in favor of Ford but they must be reasonable in any matter or direction. NO BRAND BASHING WILL BE ALLOWED! PERIOD!!
BigF350, I'm only saying that if a discussion doesn't meet the definition of "Tech Talk" by an Administrator, why is it not moved to an appropriate forum instead of being shut down?
The reason being, is that there is no appropriate forum for it.
People expressing thier opinions on car manufacturers with no technical discussion is pointless.
For example "I think Honda's are just a bunch ricers" etc. etc.
What use is that? It isn't even suitable in the only other possible forum (General Automotive) - as it has no relevance whatsover.
Just because someone doesn't like an automotive manufacturer, big deal.
I try to keep threads open as long as possible, but if users keep blatantly crossing the forum guidelines I have no choice but to lock the thread in question.
We aim to ensure this site is filled with good quality technical information so that our users can learn about and discuss the merits of Ford vehicles and thier competitors so they are armed with all the knowledge they need when choosing a vehicle so it meets thier needs and purposes.
For example: Just because I happen to not like Dodge products isn't going to affect your next vehicle purchase. However, if I could recall all of the issues I have seen on Dodge vehicles that might...
Even this thread in question, the fact that CR didn't put an American vehicle in its list in no way makes it biased, it is just some peoples opinoins
- in fact I would go so far to say that each respective vehicle deserves its award, they are each impressive cars/SUV's/trucks in thier own right.
I personally wouldn't have chosen the Ridgeline, because it doesn't meet what I require in a truck, but for most people it will be "enough truck" for them.
