You have to remove the battery or the coolant recovery/windshield washer tank depending on the side your working on. There are 2 other nuts that hold the turn signal housing on. They are directly behind it. They arent too hard to get to but kind of a PITA. You will need a deep well socket and maybe a small extension. I can't remember what size it is.
Wolf, I have the same truck and a similar problem...I've looked and looked and still can't find those dam bottom nuts people as talking about. If you find them please let me know..I have the two horns in the place they say the nuts should be..sure need help!!
They are hidden back there. You can barely get your fingers on them. The best way to explain where they are though is directly behind the parking/turn signal light. This is the amber lense. They are in close to the same position as the 2 screws above the headlight on the plastic trim either chrome or grey. Maybe that will help you some. Also, be careful as they are easy to drop.
I had to remove the battery and the battery base
You cannot see the two bolts but they are there behind the plate the horns are
attached to
You can also see one bolt if you go under and look up
The access holes for these two bolts are just above the horns
They are a real pain to get at
I guess I'll remove the horns to get a better look. I had my battery bout, the tray removed everthing ..still couldn't see them..but I'll try one more time before Ford gets her
