Front Suspension

I'm looking for some feedback on my post in the 48-60 Forum

Twin-I-Beam Suspension for 48-52 F-2/3

WARNING: it's a long read as it took me two hours to write.

Click on the Blue Twin-I-Beam in the first post. Looks like the forums part link messed up the rest of the link.

Certainly would be different but it seems alot easier and simpler to use the Mustang II or like I did with the 80 Mercury car (or Crown Vic is the same) clip was very close to the right width and fit quiet well. With ps, good sized pdb, motor mounts for a 302 are built in and independent suspension all built in. Lots around in the wreckers. I like keeping things as simple as possible.

Sounds like you did your research on it. I think it would work if you are carefull and take your time to do it to make sure all your measurements are precise.

never read a thing haha too lazy...

long story short.. are you using twin i-beam up front from the 70ish trucks for your 40/50 truck?

i say do it! im using twin i-beam from a 93 ranger in my 51 chebby truck... air-bags... mmmm...

i hacked the cross-member out and welded it in the chebby frame, it fit perfect... measure it 12 million times! same curve in the frame rails aswell. the width of the tires is even perfect for the chebby.

cram a 5.8L in it, should pretty much bolt in with the ranger cross-member

oh wait, im not doing a chebby *looks around*

Fomoko I think your missing the point. I want 8 bolt dual wheels, stock ride height and the ability to haul stuff in the truck. Also my truck weighs weighs about 800 lbs more than a stock half-ton. I would break that puny mustang II in half plus I get bigger disc brakes (11" to 12 9/16). On the ford car IFS, my brother has a badly rusted '73 ranchero with coil front and rear suspension. It's just it uses the 4.5x5 bolt pattern but widens out to like 40" in the middle.

Lockups, did you mean as in Twin I Beam 4X4, twin turbo Detroit Diesel? Cool.

I meant the 56 that is sitting on the oddball frame. I dont think the cab or front end were bloted down. First one in the pile.

Sorry, it`s been so long that I forgot about it. That would be cool, a 4X4 front end from my 68 4by frame.
