Well I'm going to be a co-fabricator on a '59 f500 project. The truck belongs to my cousin, and was originally used to haul cattle on our grandfathers ranch. Anyways, he has big plans for the truck. Hopefully it will be finished this summer. I will warn everybody first off, that it will no longer be an original truck. If that is something you don't want to hear, stop reading now.
Ok the plan is to First of all Convert the truck to 4wheel drive. Using Rockwell axles front and rear, with 6.7:1 ratio. Getting the 10 lug conversion and running 24inch semi alcoa wheels, with a 44inch tire.
The next step is going to be the Crew cab modification, we have a 1960 ford, that we are taking the cab off of. If anyone wants the rest, it should be free for the taking(its in sad shape, parked and collecting dust for over 20years now).
And lastly, we are either going to mount up a cummins or caterpilar diesel, a 6speed trans, and a 3speed auxilary gear box Low range, 1:1, and over drive. For an awesome double over drive. Should be cool, we're shooting for over 450hp to the ground. And 20mpg. If you've ever seen the New international CXT this thing will rock its world.

Sounds like a great project. Please make sure to create a gallery and post a lot of before, during and after pictures. We all want to see what this beast started as and what it ends up as.
Welcome to the best danged board on the net!!
Sounds like a really cool project! It will definateley be a big ol' mean truck when you're done. As Bob said, take a bunch of pics and make a gallery! There is nothing the rest of us like more than checking out what the other guys are doing
