soft/squishy breaks ???

I have a 75 f150 2wd w/power breaks and the break pedal is real soft squishy feeling when you push it down the breaks work but just don't feel right/safe to drive alot...the brake fluid is staying at the same level/not leaking and the break pads are'nt bad any suggestions thanks in advance

I had the same thing happen to me but i have drums up front, my problem was the master cylinder itself. I replaced and everything worked just fine. I'm not sure if mine was leaking though. But that might be a good place to start, if not maybe try bleeding your brakes, could be some air got in there. Done any brake work recently?

Ford truck brakes are known to feel squishy.
The best you can do is to:

1) make all the necessary adjustments to the rear brakes,
2) Make sure all the related parts are not corrupted with brake fluid or grease.
3) Make sure any worn out parts are replaced.
4) Make sure the lines are bled correctly

The only other thing to do is upgrade to the F350 Brake Booster -Master cylinder and change the calipers.

Try a vacuum bleeding tool. Look for leaking brake fluid, especially around rear wheel cyls. and calipers

squishy brakes

Also, spend the extra 20 bucks, buy the PREMIUM frt disk pads. The metallic pads may be expensive, but if the mastercylinder is good, AND you have thoroughly cleaned and lubricated the caliper slides, (yes, you need to) these will give you the best response. Check to make sure the rear brakes are adjusted correctly as they actually have the most impact on 'feel' . Converting to rear disc isn't too expensive, and REALLY helps the braking ability

I have the same problem. After replacing th MC, Still the brakes are still "mushy". What's so interesting, that I have air in all lines. So, could it be that the lines from the MC to the Proprotion Valve be leaking? Will investagate tomorrow and update.
