I have a 1995 F150 4x4 with a 5.0 V8 automatic.... What i want to know from you guys is at what rpm does this motor build the most torque. I want to pu a highstall in it and achieve the most power off the line as possible but i dont want to go to agressive... should i even think about doing something on a vehical that has 160,00 miles
well, the 302 makes its power up high,so a high stall helps with power off the line. i was running one in my 88, and it helped alot and gave some power up and it sounded alot better too
If you go to www.goprtc.com they build custom converters, Gary is the owner, and he can help you decide whats best for your application\uses. He built mine that I am just about to put into my truck, its pretty close to stock though, I just needed a new one since I rebuilt my tranny. He suggested staying stock just because its mostly a daily driver. Talk to him, and he can help ya out.
if you haven't done anything to the engine , forget the converter! toss in a e303 cam and a set of heads, headers, and a flowing exhaust you can use a 3500 stall converter! how's that?
BTW, what is your intended purpose with the truck?
