Is the distrib on a 82 351W and a 84 351W differnet in any way? I went to put a distrib in my truck and the truck is a 84 and I take the old on in and get the new one. It wont fit. Just curious. The truck is a 84 F250 4X2 351W
The 82 is more than likely a 351M, not a 351W, and the dristributor gears are different for the two motors. You can replace a 351W gear with a 351M gear, though.
So should I take it back and ask for a 82 351M ditrib and try it? I was going by the tag so I assumed it was a winsor cause Iunno just thought it was. Wahts the difference in the M and the W? Ive only been around EFI winsors so Ive never seen the engine this open before.

Maybe there were some 351W motors installed in 1982 F series trucks, but I've never seen them installed until the 1983 model. Try the 351M/400 Duraspark II distributor and it should fit...
You really need to determine exactly wwhich motor you have in your 1984 truck. The 351M and 400 motors were discontinued after the 1982 model year and replaced by the 351W and 460's.
I had an 82 F150 with a windsor. I thought it was a M when I took it to get rebuilt, the guy said it was a W and had to order new parts for it. Doesnt really help ya none, but there must have been windsors in 82.
I have an 82 F-250 4x4 that came with a 351W. Your 351 is probably a Windsor. Look at your engine and see if it looks like a 302, if it does than it is a 351W. Look at your valve covers, if they look the same as a 302 then it is a Windsor.
