Paint job
Hey folks! I was just wondering if any of ya'll had gotten your baby's (the truck guys, not wives or children) painted. My 98 turns 9 this year and I was thinking of getting her a good paint job. She's gettin lots of scratches, swirls and one small rust spot on the roof. Anyway, was wondering for the folks that had done it what kind of dough I'd be looking at? It can be either a MAACO special or total sand down, reprime, the works.

I didnt spend a lot on mine, about $50 total, since I did a rattlecan job at home, cant get most of the shops here to get the 383 OD green I want, so I go to home depot, and buy the $5/can army green stuff and use that. I gotta get more so I can finish the job, but $50 should cover it, since I'm only using about 6 cans or so to do the whole truck. just cleaning rust off the existing paint, and painting over it. not perfect, but I'm going for the redneck/ military look, so it doesnt need to be.

Maaco/Sheib Spring Specials
usually $199.00 for basic job. Save money and get a better paint job by doing prep yourself.
I stripped all the emblems, mirrors, wipers, grille, antenna, headlamps/tailamps and trim and the bumpers-then did complete wash.Wiperdown and base sanded it. Sheib guys ID'd the high/low spots and dings and spent the time there.
Saved lots of time on Tape Up and got coverage where you normally wouldn't on a base level paint job.
