There has been camshaft options out for some time now. None that i know of have been proven to work well, however there is still several in testing. I wont be putting an aftermarket cam in mine, just too big of risk and very hard to swap out later if it doesnt work.
Oh there's no way I'd change mine. I just didn't understand why there weren't options like for a towing cam for instance. I guess they would have no benifit for 99.9% of owners as these engines are basically at their peak unless you are just flat out radical..

You have a cam made for towing, thats what the whole engine was designed to do. It wasnt designed to effeciently make pwoer above 4k rpms like the sled pullers and racers do so thats why people put aftermarket cams in diesels. Also the cams do help the engines breath better, which can drop egt's and help turbo spool up better all of which are important when your trying to make big hp.
