Search eBay for "S2000 start button kit". That is what I purchased. they give instructions, but my instructions are the correct and proper way to install to act just like the factory ingition switch. The only reason I purchased this kit was for the connector in the back of the button, whick looks to be a connector you could get a Radio Shack for a computer.

What's the sense? You still have to use the key to deactivate the anti-theft!

so are there wires behind the coin holder? I have a floor 4x4 shifter and I would hate to remove the coin holder and find that there isnt any wires since i have a chance of breaking clips...Im sure that holder is about 8 bucks at the dealership...The S2000 kit is $65 buy it now option with everything included...not bad

That is a perfect Idea..however what ya should due is hook it up to about 6-10 minature 12VDC vibrating motors and place them under the seat. Then You can hook them up to your ejection switch and when ya press it just act all dissapointed like it misfired or something. Itll sure get some people thinking.

Here are detailed instructions for installing the engine start button on the F-150’s correctly. Please note that I am not responsible for any damage that may be caused by this or any modification.

Parts needed:
Honda S2000 push start button
30A, 5 pin relay
wire
female terminal ends and butt connectors

I purchased a kit from eBay that came with the button, a relay with wiring, & a connector to plug into the back of the switch. Search for engine start button. You can buy the parts cheaper, the button from Honda or the internet, the wiring and connectors from Radio Shack and a connector for the back of the button from Radio Shack, but then you have to go out and find the wiring and connectors. Follow the directions and diagram below and you should have no problems
</O
  • Find a location and mount the button, I used a hacksaw blade and small files to make a perfect fit.
  • Next remove the trim around the steering column and ignition cylinder, also remove the lower dash trim panel on the drivers side for access to the wiring and to find a good location for the relay.
  • The wiring is the hardest problem, to act just like the ignition switch; you must interrupt a run/accessory circuit that supplies power to the instrument cluster and radio in run and accessory only. This is done by unplugging the 7 pin connector on the ignition switch which is located on the opposite end of the key cylinder under the steering column trim. There are only 6 wires in this connector, although it has 7 spots.
  • Cut the Black/Lt Green wire in half, this is the power out with key in run/accessory that must be interrupted, run this wire to the relay using 12 gauge wire and attach to terminal 30 on the relay, run a wire from terminal 87a on the relay back, using 12 gauge wire, to the other end of the Black/Lt Green wire that was just cut.
  • Splice a wire into the Red/Lt Blue wire and attach it to terminal 87 at the relay, using 12 gauge wire. You can cut the Red/Lt Blue wire in half if you only want the engine start button to start the truck and not both the button and key.
  • Now run a ground wire from terminal 85 on the relay to ground and also splice pin # 3 from the start switch to ground. The 5 pins are numbered from left to right if you are looking directly at the button.(I believe this is correct).
  • Next wire in the switch, you only need 3 of the 5 terminals in the switch. Run a wire from the relay terminal 86 to pin # 2 of the switch. Run a wire from pin # 1 of the switch to terminal 30 at the relay, this can be a thin gauge wire, it does not carry any load, only activates the relay.
  • Mount relay so no wiring will rub and cause damage.
  • Verify all connections are good and test, truck should start normal with key and button, unless red and blue wire was cut as stated before, then only the button should work, you can verify the run/accessory interrupt by putting the truck in gear and pressing the button, either running or key in run position, the instrument cluster and the radio should both shut off.
  • The diagram is posted in my gallery because I don't know how to put it here yet! Sorry if it is not a good enough pic.

Besides some who think it's cool, the starter button is kind of useful on higher priced cars that have the entry system that auto senses your key in your pocket and automatically unlocks the door and engages the ignition. All you have to do is get in and hit the button.

I hope you took into account any resale value by doing this. There is NO WAY I would ever touch a vehicle that has had any of its wiring altered, especially for a starter button.
