Finally, after dragging it around for the last 35 years, I started my project. I didn't get a whole lot done, just pulled the hood, grille and sheet metal in front, but it felt good to get started. I'll be updating my gallery as things progress.
Before you know it you'll be just like the rest of.... Visa maxed out and no space in the garage !!! Beware of shiny things in the catalogs.... they tend to get themselves UPS'd to your house...
enjoy and keep us posted on progress or lack of same
Yes, it is about time! One of the good things is that I HAD to get a few tools. I think I am in love with air rachets! Back in the day (late 60's early 70's) my dad had a gas station (ahh, remember those full service days). About the only air tool we used/had was an impact wrench. An air rachet sure makes things easier!
I posted a couple progress pic in my gallery. The radiator is the original. I had fixed up back then, but it obviously needs some work. Is it worth it to fix it, or should I look for something newer.
Always glad to see another FE Powered F-100 in the forum!
I got a desert cooler radiator from US Radiator. They'll put the hose inlet & outlet wherever you need them. It's the one most of the F-100 dealers sell, but I got it straight from the manufacturer and saved a few bucks.
Welcome John_1953. I started a two years ago, and like many others will put my time in when I can and have the cash. Many of the guy's on this site are helpful. You only have to ask. If can suggest, buy a complete "FORD" repair book for your year and model of truck. This will answer many questions and gives good directions. Have a good time and enjoy! Monte
welcome to the fun I noticed in your gallery you had a question about the holley carb on your motor it looks like a standard 1850 which is about a 600 cfm if i remember right i had one on my 390 waasnt happy with it replaced with a 3310 750 cfm with vacuum secondaries very happy with it

The repair manual sounds like a good idea. I plan on doing a frame-up on this guy, but I am sure that would be helpfull to find where things go as I put it back together.
Thanks for the input on the carb! There will be a few things that I will be looking to ID as I go through it. When I got the truck initially (~1970), it had a flathead in it. I did a lot of work to it back then, but don't remember all of the details. Once I get the engine out I'll get the casting numbers (I think it is a '66 352 out of a truck). I'm not sure what the transmission is (might be the 4-speed from the '64 Galaxie it came out of, or from the truck the engine came from). And if I remember correctly, the rear end is from a '64 truck.
I figure this will be a 2-3 year project, but I'll see how it goes.
Be sure to also call Mid Fifty and have them send you a print catalog, it has a lot of real good drawings and info besides listings of neat things to drool over...
You'll be suprised what Six months of hard labor and a great big wad of cash can do for these old trucks. Just got mine inspected and back on the road yesterday. Now to get started on the body work....what did I do with that catalogue? ("No dear I'm not ordering anything else for my truck, just talkin to the guy's at FTE! ") Good luck and enjoy.
Hey welcome to FTE. Good to see others get involved in the restoration process. I got hooked by getting a 57 up in Wyoming 3 years ago and bring it back to Texas. Been retired for a while and needed something to fill my time and empty my pocket book, and it has done both. But it is done now and I drive it everyday, cant see trailering one of these beauties around. The only thing I want to do is install power steering and I'll get around to that one day. Got a few pic's in my gallery, check it out. Lot of experts here on this forum, and they will sure go out of their way to help. Good luck. Roy
