I am having problems with my 93 aerostar. I have another thread called "engine still missing." https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=462498 So i took the van to a shop and they told me the fuel regulator was defective. I replaced it and the engine starts but still misses. I pulled the codes myself and found a 111 157 173 (With engine off). What does this mean or is there anywhere i can find out what those codes mean? Thanks for any info.
disconnent battery neg. lead for 10 minutes to reset K.eep A.live M.emory to default ECU levels...stored fuel trim levels, and stored IAC settings probably way off due to failed fuel pump and excessivly high fuel pressure...
after KAM clear, run on hwy/side roads for 20 minutes to let ECU and sensors store parameters for your engine
reread codes on hot engine KOEO and KOER and post on forum...
c 157 indicates MAF sensor open-failed...check MAF plug for corrosion and good conection...may have to clean or replace MAF and IAC, both probably contaminated by too much over pressure fuel dumped by injectors into plenum
ECU runs cold engine in default cold start open loop rich fuel mode much like old school carbureted engine with choke on until engine coolant reaches about 175d F measured by ECT engine coolant temp sensor. ECU then switches to closed loop if all sensor parameters are correct and activates fuel trim control by the O2 sensor.
if fuel pressure regulator failed and high fuel pressure for several weeks....time to clean ring pack and intake valve tulips with Seafoam soak on hot engine then a fast freeway run followed by water steam injection cleaning of combustion chamer spark plug carbon....change oil after, lots of the carbon particles end up in oil and oil is already fuel contaminated from high fuel pressure failure.
