Wink 35's are a good thing

I see you can fit 35's without rubbing, but you also have an aftermarket front bumper. I have a stock bumper that had to be trimed to prevent rubbing on my 1992 F-350 4x4.

Yup, I had to trim my bumper just a bit for my 285/75/16. With the plow on they miss by about 1"...pretty close.

Fishman, those tires look nice. You dont have a lift on that either?

Does anyone know the width of the OEM alloy wheels?

Mine are 7 & 1/2" wide. Stop by a tire shop that balances tires and they put the calipers on them and tell you. The black plastic ones that they use when sizing your tire for the high speed computer balancing.

I absolutely had to put a 3" lift (shackle Reversal from Sky Mfg.) in order to put my 315/75 R16's on my 1992 F-350 4x4. I don't know how you managed to get yours to work without a lift???

nope there is no lift on that truck.

you could easily fit 35's with stock bumper... i did it on my 93 F150 and a 2" suspension lift. just trim the small lip on the inside of the bumper with a cutoff wheel or sawzall. then if needed (which i doubt) you can shim the bumper out with some somewhat thick washers. this works wonders and it looks perfectly stock

thanx for the compliments, i try to keep her looking hot in about a week or so i should be making her real hot with a custom 4pos chip from Tony yay

I have an F250 with 355's and 285/75/16's on it with with four inches of lift. my mileage is really suffering bot they do fit quite well on stock 7 inch rims. no rubbing problems at all. I plan on changing the gears to 4.10s to try and recover my mileage and some power only getting 12-14mpg ewwhh.

I was just wondering, how is changing to a 4.10 gear gonna help his milage?

b/c it'll take less skinny pedal to get the truck rolling, and in traffic or in an area of many stop signs/red lights this could mean all the difference in the world. however if he was driving hiway miles mostly he would be better staying where he is

I have a 97 F-350 cc with stock rims and suspention. I am running 305 75's and they look AWESOME! My truck is a 5 speed with 4:10's and didn't notice any drop in mpg.

Hey Guys, thanks for all the response. I talked to a tire guy who said anything over 265/75/16 wide on the 7in. rims would be mushy with side load and wear more in the center. Yet it sounds like quite a few people are running 285's or bigger on them though.
With 410 gears I would rather go taller than the 265's and go to 285 to get the RPM's down a bit. Besides that, I cant take dragging my differentials through the muck with those skinny 235's anymore.

The narrower and taller the tire is, the better for your mileage with those 4.10s !

unless you are doing some serious bogging where there is no bottom skinny tires out perform fat tires any day of the week. i have done plenty of experimenting with my F250 and bronco and found that if there is even a hint of a hard bottom close to the top skinny tires will grab hard to puch you through. fat tires just wanna sit on top and try and paddle across.

look into SuperSwamper LTB's. they got a nice selection of skinny but tall tires. dont know how they do but would like to try them for myself

Fishman, you are right about that. But mostly i am just looking for a taller tire and cant seem to find one unless i go wide as well.

I would be happy with a 265/85/16 but havent seen that size anywhere. Anyone know of any?
Cooper discontinued the ST255/85/16's. That tire was 33.2 tall.
