Does anyone know what can be causing this? Sometimes when I come to a stop my Ranger will shutter and act like its going to die on me. (Some times it actually does die on me but that is rare.) Another issue is that sometimes I may be driving down the interstate doing about 65 mph and I will suddenly just loose all exceleration and the truck runs rough for a few seconds. Again that is pretty rare but it does happen. I know I need a new O2 sensor and I am planning on replacing that as soon as I can get my hands on the cash. Can that be casueing my problems? If not does anyone have any suggestions? ITs a 94 Ranger XLT with 154000 miles and has always had regular oil changes and I only run premium or plus fuel in it. I even have the transmission flushed every spring. I love that truck, can someone help me?
I think you would get the best response if a moderator moved this from the Engine Building to the Ranger forum. When you come back again, let us know more about your vehicle (ie. engine, tranny, all stock or not?) Have you had any other problems with it before?
Do you mean Shudder? as in vibrate or shake? Shutters are for windows.
Your truck does not need or require premium fuel. It will run better and get better mileage from regular fuel. The idle speed control motor could be bad or the Mass airflow sensor could be dirty. Have you ever changed the fuel filter?
