Hey all, before I take this Holley 4160 carb back apart, just wondering if anyone knows offhand what would cause gasoline to be gushing upward out of both horn vent holes.....???
I rebuilt this carb a few weeks ago and I guess I screwed something up good.
Wish I knew more about HOLLEY's...stuck/wrong float needles? Float stuck, binding or leaking? Now that I put in my 2 cents worth, I'll watch this thread and maybe learn something.
Either debris in the needle and seats, bad o-rings on the outside of the needle and seats, float levels adjusted too high, or too much fuel pressure are about the only causes of that. I would pull the needle and seats from the bowls. When they are unthreaded, they should be snug to pull out if the 0-rings are correct. Look in the needle area (black tip) for a small piece of something. Also, look at the mating seat surface. You do have an inline fuel filter, I hope?
Did you use a Holley brand kit? Alot of the aftermarket kits don't work as well.
Hey thanks guys I'll check those areas first. Yes I used a Holley brand rebuild kit from summit. It's a marine use one? But all the gaskets appeared to be just right to the old ones I removed.
Hey guys, I got it fixed. Thanks for the tips. It was the floats. I totally forgot to set them at all when I replaced them. They were not shutting off of the fuel, at all. All is well.
