I went on vacation last week up in the NC mountains and had to park under some huge pine trees...well of course I got sap all over my new truck and topper. I tried using regular car wash soap and water and scrubed the heck out of it and still didn't get it all off. Does anyone have a home remedie or product that will take the stuff off without damaging the paint.
I've had great luck using a commercial type alkaline cleaner. brands around here are Benelex, blue thunder and blue lightning. seems every supply house has its own brand name for the stuff.
you can probably get something similar at a place that does janitorial supply.
Start out with it diluted at 20:1 and use a soft car wash brush.
if that dosen't work, then you can usually go with higher concentrations.
Just be sure to rinse everything thoroughly when your done, as this stuff is mildly corrosive.
I did this on an old fiberglass cap that had been stored under some trees for years and it came up very well
Zymol cleaner wax will get it out, but it'll take some elbow grease. The best part about that stuff is that it actually leaves wax on it, so it will help to repel more sap. There's no easy way to get that stuff off though, good luck. TK

I tried all types of cleaners. I even bought and tried expensive detailing Prep. from auto body suppliers. None worked on the Spruce pine sap on my F250. Finally I remembered a friend who does tree service asked me for Go-Jo hand cleaner when he was done taking down the damn trees that caused my initial problem. He found it to be the best on removing it from your hands. I figured what the
He((,it's worth a try. It worked well on the F250 also. I used a cleaner that had no pumice. Just the cream type. Put a dab on each sap spot and let it sit. I came back to it every couple of minutes and loosened it with my finger.I then washed the truck and reapplied a wax to it. I have done this sucessfully a few times already. Give it a try.

What ever you use, get it off quick. I have had several spots of pine sap that I didn't remove for a month or two and the sap wound up eating through the paint!
I use Gojo Orange degreaser spray for that very purpose and it works well as a sap/tar remover as well as a general car wash. I just pray the whole truck when it has gotten unusually greasy or covered in sap and then take a soft truck washing brush to it and srub away all the grime. then just rinse it really good with a hose and it's nice and clean and shiny again. Plus it smells like oranges.
Nail polish remover. Just a touch on a soft cloth or even a soft paper towel, melts it like butter. Just wash the vehicle right after. I did it on my 02 Cougar and it was a beautiful thing.
