Bought an Excursion and have a question?
I just bought the wife a 2002 Limited 4x4(3.73) V10 w/ 62,000 miles on it. It was a one owner and very well taken care of. I have a couple questions. How do you program the homelink? The X has a factory Transmission Temp Gauge, is that good enough? I will towing a Jeep on a 18' car hauler with a weight around 6,000 lbs. Should I put a deep trans pan on it? On the hubs there is a Auto and manual setting (it is on auto now), can someone explain that one to me?

If the hubs are in auto, you just flip the switch on the dash and the hubs lock with a vacuum. They don't always hold too good though. If you lock the hubs manually, they will stay locked. A lot of guys replace the hubs with after market Warn hubs, supposed to be much better but they are manual locking. Hope this helps some.

Homelink
Homelink is the built-in garage door opener (3 buttons and little red light) in the drivers side sun visor. It allows you to open up to 3 doors or other RF remote-controlled items from those buttons, and works further away (in mine at least) than the handheld openers.
You'll need your hand-held openers to program the Homelink. I found the instructions under the "driver controls" secn of the manual if your Ex came with the owners manual. Also, have a site, homelink.com I think
But, here's the the basic procedure, it's pretty slick:
1) Press/hold the 2 outside buttons 15 secs or more until the light flashes. This erases any prev stored codes and starts you clean slate.
2) Put your handheld remote close to the visor (1-2 inches) and press and hold the button you want to program AND the button on the remote. If you are at home, the door will go up/down by the way, watch out! Hold both buttons until the Homelink light flashes slow, then fast. Let off the buttons when you see fast flashing.
3) If you want to program the other buttons w/ other remotes, repeat #2. When press the homelink button now, should get a solid red light and no longer need your handheld remote.
There are some openers not compatible w/ this programming and some other options if yours does not work, but both of my Sears openers work well.
Enjoy!

I don't have the homelink, bummer. I don't think they work for floating codes either, could be wrong.
