A/C Switch question
Thought everyone on this thread ought to know the latest. I honed in on the original wire feeding the a/c compressor per Mil1ion's diagram above. I found it cut and still in its original location. I turned on the key, put the switch in the A/C position, and tested the wire with my multimeter. I couldn't believe it! 12VDC!
So my next obvious question...why would the previous owner cut the wire that clearly worked with the in-dash switch? I assumed that he wired in the toggle switch because the factory switch failed. Can someone make any sense of his logic?

edit; the biggest problems I have come across with old trucks and cars is the PREVIOUS OWNERS. There are a bunch of butchers out there.
Sometimes it drives me nuts to hear the compressor Kick-in & Out all the time.
I'm not a big fan if AC in the first place as I get wicked colds from it. ;(
