I am looking to get a new super duty in the a few months and love the sound of a diesel, but hate the cost!!! I tow nothing except a four wheeler and am leaning toward the V10. I hauled with both a diesel (2001) and V10 (2001) in Nebraska and liked both. Does anyone have a 3V V10 with 325/60/20's? MPG? My plan is a White King Ranch CC, SWB 4x4 with all the options and the factory 20's. Will the BFG KO 325/60/20 fit on the truck with a DR 2.5 leveling Kit? Love the site and thank you for your help!!!
Go through the MPG threads, The OFFICIAL HIGHWAY MPG Poll and the OFFICIAL COMBINED MPG poll, which are stickies at the top of this forum. Good reading.
If you're getting a 3-valver, it's a no-brainer. Really.
Thanks krewat. I realy liked the 2001 V10, but I also liked the Diesel. For the last 4 months I have been going back and forth!!!!!!!! I like the V10 for the power and price and the diesel (6.0) has had a few problem. I plan on keeping this truck for 5-7 years. I drive 60 miles round trip 5 days a week for work. I am hopping for 14-16 mpg with 35.5's. Is that unreasonable with a bed cover?
I drive 60 miles a day round trip - 75% Interstate / 25% sideroads. I run approx 12 MPG. (Things get better if the side roads have lots of green lights!! ) The truck is stock. (I don't need to draw the attention of the local police!) I love this vehicle for driving to and from work, and that was not the reason I bought it.

Thank you,
Nebraska
get the power stroke and put a chip in it youll get close to 18 mpg's if you can keep your foot out of it
and for the v-10 i have a 99 with 35x15.5-16.5 and only get about 5 mpgs.
5 mpg!!!!!! I know these are big and heavy trucks and are not going to get great mileage, but 5 mpg. That is kind of scary! I could live with the 12 mpg. My driving is 85% at 60 mph and 15% 45 mph all flat.
just leave it dead bone stock, even the stock tire size and drive it. do any thing and you will suffer the price in lost mpg's.
the 06 will have more then enough power for you and it will be close to a diesel in the mpg's.
just when you do order get the 4:30 gear sets for the extra 50 bucks.
i own a 02 with 42" tires. i drove 1800 miles in the summer from wasington state to Iowa. i thought a would get 12-15 mpg. i was wrong. at best i got 8mpg. so good luck with the mpg thing. P.S. i ran out of money on the trip there. 400 miles from home.
