I just wondered if anyone has a source for a stove box that sits on the exhast manifold to pre-heat the air going into the carb. I have tried FOMOCO, and anything in the wreckers is rusted too bad to use.
My truck is a 79 F-100 with a 351 M, 2 BBL (C6 auto), it is a candian truck if that matters.
I think that this is why my truck runs so bad when it is cold out.
Also, any source for a vacumme hose routing diagram?
Haven't seen any for stock, they do make kits for headers that clamp over one tube (Summitracing, Jegs, ect.), might be a long run with the hose, but might work on the exhaust pipe just below the manifold (my Ranger is done this way-same problem). There should be a vacuum/temp. valve in the air cleaner, on the bottom, two hoses to it from underneath, I think on the drivers side or rear of yours, this regulates the vacuum based on the temp inside the air cleaner-usually around 120 deg. F is were it will go full open and stop pulling heated air. This valve just uses any vacuum source that is handy, but must be full vacuum and not the timed spark port. I don't think it will matter in/out on the valve. This will greatly increase the cold driveabilty when operational.
