since i have not worked with header type exhaust systems , thinking on a set for my 410 FE now , seems to be about 3 brands to pick from . Any tips on picking out a set ? The lower the gauge the thicker the pipes ? Just want to improve the breathing yet keep it toned down for my old 76 4x4 . thanks
hedman elite series are pretty nice... 3/8" flanges ad they fit in with no problems.... tube thickness isnt as big of an issue in a 4x4 as flange thickness is... lots of vibrations and water and mud making then warp like potatoe chips if they're not at least 3/"... JMO stan also makes a great header...
some of the more spendy headers look like they have a thermal coating to maybe keep the heat inside the pipes so a heat shield might not be necessary ??
well the engine family changed between 1976 and 1977 so there would be some thing to watch out for being 360's became 351m's and 390 became 400's but this is just my .02 worth of info
Guess the best way is to go to the manufacturers website and try to get some info if they have any .

I'm talking same engine family. (FE) But I heard there's any issue, due to the narrower frame onthe highboy. I'd like to keep inside the frame rails, without exiting out the fender wells.
How much narrower is the high-boy frame anyways? Does anyone know?
