Can I just take duplicolor clear coat and shoot the paint with it now to renew the paint? It's a '92 and should be a clear coat, but in all honesty acts like a single stage. How long would that last? I'm just looking to spruce up the truck a bit.
I wouldn't do that. You might be able to, but I doubt it. If you want something that will make you paint look good use a product called Wet Paint. This stuff is awesome. It also works on more than just paint. http://www.wetpaintglaze.com/ meguire's and zymol are also good products.
I am not sure what this is what you are looking for, but on my 88, the clear coat is gone, or has oxidized to a matte finish. Color Back wax brought the shine back after a few coats.
I am looking just to get the 'life' back into the paint with minimal effort. It has some parts that are oxidized to a dull finish, and other's still have clear on them
Color Back should do the trick. a bottle is around $5 and will do your whole truck at least 6 times. my truck was so oxidized when i bought it, i couldnt even see a reflection. With the first coat of Color Back, i could do my make up(if i used makeup ) I did 4 coats total and it looks close to new. It is a wax, so the application and removal is quite easy.
