Well that doesnt exactly make you feel better about buying a diesel..

However there is some good news....
Quote"The number of complaints for 2005 Power Stroke engines has dropped sharply compared with earlier versions since last year's redesign of the engine's fuel system."

I agree with this article. Ford needs to step up and fix the common problems we all complain about.. Just look at the posts on this site and see how many have oil leaks, lack of power, and tranny issues..

I traded in a 99 7.3L to hopefully escape high repairs, Now my 06 6.0L is not what I expected.. I have a lack of power that the dealer says is normal, I don't have a block heater (Not just missing the chord), and may have the oil leak issue.

I have never looked at Chevy or Dodge before, but I may if this one doesn't work out..

Also that is why I spent the extra cash to get an extended warranty..

I read allot on this site about the 6.0 AFTER i ordered one. Made my paranoia rise to the point of canceling the order. But then I found other owners here that have not had the problems like in 02 and 03. Got the truck 3 weeks ago and am just lovin' it. No problems so far. ( only 1200 miles ) I feel for the people in Mich. that the article mentioned as well as other 6.0 owners that have been shafted. When you pay that much for a truck you expect no problems. I hope that the 06 version is problem free and from what I have read it has a good chance at it. Is it worth getting the extended warrenty at $1200? The engine is covered for 5/5.

People here challenge me, even have called me a "basher" of the 6.0.

Like I have said in my posts:

Ford makes the best truck components in terms of body, cab, frame 4x4 system . BUT, Ford "missed the dock" on their outgoing NAVISTAR diesel in the 6.0 in 2002.

And, I have said again that I believe that Ford engineeers are on the LINE in terms of reliability of the upcomming NAVISTAR 6.4 diesel.

NO ifs and or buts, Ford and NAVISTAR must deiiver on reliability in the future 6.4 diesel when eventually released.

Elsewise, Ford puts their whole "Built Ford Tough" market on the line.

People that buy F150's are mostly "grocery haulers" People that by the "SuperDuty" are the ones that really work a truck.

Those of us that work a truck don't want a V-10, much less a 5.4.

WE want an engine and transmission and drve train that works ; and works with relialility.

Nuff said.

I have done alot of research before I made the decision to order my PSD. From what I can see, Ford and Navistar have worked out the issues that have plagued earlier versions of the 6.0. I guess I'll find out firsthand if this is the case!

When I bought my 2006 I wasn't really aware of the problems with the 03-04's.

But even if I had been, I think "what was the alternative"

I'll never own a Chevy (again)... Even in 4x4 they are a low-rider... And I don't like the styling or the ergo's

I LOVE the cummins engine. My friend who have a cummins LOVE it.

But I don't like the look of the Dodge at all. My friends 05 cummins... 'crew cab' is cramped. And I don't like the interior at all. And from what I've heard the tranny on the dodge aint all that great.

I even looked at a new Mega-Cab dodge in a parking lot last week and my first thought was "Ugly"

So now knowing what I know... I'd still have bought my 06 PSD.

Like I've said before. Put a Cummins Engine in the Ford Superduty and you've got the perfect truck.

But if my 06 stays trouble free like it has so far (8700 miles) I'll be completely happy with the powerstroke. (after all its faster than my buddies cummins 5.9L)

So you own a '06 SuperDuty 6.0 Powerstroke you have towed heavier loads along side of a recent Cummins?

Then you say the 6.0 is "faster" than the Cummins?

Towing or not?

8700 miles on the '06 6.0? That millage under tow or work is getting close to the threashold where many of us prior year 6.0 users began to see our first problems.

Many of us here could care less about "faster" unless towing 10,000 pounds or more.

Not a 7,000 pound street rod..please!

I don't like the looks of Dodge either.

But I'm beginning to think that owning an ugly truck with a decent engine outweighs owning a "macho" truck with not so great engine.

All those guy's with problems I feel for. I think ford should pull all those motors and replace them with newer engines cause they are gonna have issues forever. Plus those 03-04 folks should get some kinda lifetime warranty for the trouble.
