Ok, you guys are really starting to scare me.....I just got back from test driving an '04 6.0 Lariat Crew 4x4 at a local stealership....making me think twice now. There's no way I'm willing to shell out 57 large for an '06 though, so I'm caught in the middle...

Personally I think the superduty is by far the best HD truck on the road bar none. Ive always admired the build quality off the truck. I bought mine used over a year ago an have yet to have a squeak or rattle in the cab. The tightness off the interior is awesome. Dodge trucks lack so much in build quality to the SD the Cummins hardly makes up for such a poorly built truck. Chevies are way to low to the ground to suit me an the IFS is not made for a HD truck. A solid axle is the best. Yah the 6.0 has had problems but people just love the SD truck. Its hard to beat

please, i seen this artical before, so there have been some probs, big deal, it happens and it sucks, but i think it has been so hyped up its unbeleivable. back in the 80's my mom bought a lemon bronco, got rid of it and the SECOND one was a lemon also!! but she got a third one and it was the best vehical there was.

i honestly say i don't care about their probs, so tell me that for all this time ford has had a great, almost perfect record with the PSD and one little thing happens during a first run year and all hell breaks loose and everybody wants to go get other bronds, get v10's, get 5.4's and are quick to jump on the band wagon of saying they are happy they didn't get one.

fords for years have been very good and they have now proven they are continually doing good, some people get the shaft from ford, but it can happen with any company.

anyways, i wish everyone luck with their truck!! GO FORD!!

But I'm beginning to think that owning an ugly truck with a decent engine outweighs owning a "macho" truck with not so great engine.
Well... So far I've got a great looking truck with a great engine.

I've got the funds... If this one goes south... I'll get it fixed under warranty and get something else.

My point was just that I didn't know about the problems with the PSD when I ordered and took delivery of mine.

Now, reading this article, I realize that EVEN if I had read that article and heard all the horror stories before I ordered this truck... I'd have still bought my PSD.

For anyone that regrets their purchase. I feel for ya. That sucks... I'm not one of them.

to evryone who has read this sorry I wasn't trying to beat on the best truck in the free world, but as you can see not everyone has known about it and as of now warranty issues are still common. Personally I'd rather be stroked than rammed!

I'm not a Dodge lover - but that article is comparing apples to oranges. The Dodge is a 4x4 and the Ford is a 4x2. The Dodge is almost 800 pounds heavier than the Ford. I would expect it to be slower than the Ford, maybe not by 3 seconds 0-60, but I would definitley expect it to be slower.

I hate it when magazines do that crap. It just makes me think that they believe we are all stupid and don't check the details. Must have sold a lot of Ford advertising that month.

In paragragh 5 the author states that the the comparison is not "apples-to-apples." Must've missed that detail.

Plus the dodge had a standard trans. Did you see those ratio's. I don't think you could shift fast enough once the boost came up. Thats why the big differences.If they both were auto's and 4wd then we'd have a test. I don't like to see tests like that cause they are ignorant and a waste of comsumers time. Ford prob paid for the test, I'm sure dodge didn't.

If you are so unhappy with your truck, do something that will make you feel better. Like sell it for something else.

Running around here playing the pessimistic devils advocate for every single issue a person who happens to like and enjoy their truck raises is pathetic.

What is your goal? To make everyone as unhappy as you are?

Are you hoping that your criticism will change minds and affect Fords bottom line?

I've always found that spending one's time chasing something positive is better then spending ones time chasing something negative. But whatever works for you, good luck.

Test reports, test reports, test reports.... speed ain't nothing!

Esp. when a man puts another $4,000 of his money on the line at puchase of the factory "diesel" option from Ford

The 6.0 might pulll, but every thousand miles of pulling hard the owner is back to the Ford shop for another engine recall, another factory flash (which takes performance out), puking coolant, oil leaks, blown head gaskets.

Read the reviews on performance if you want to. But hook that bad 6.0 up and test it for yourself.

You will know after about 10,000 miles whether you got a good 6.0 or not.

Here is how you will know:
1.) Ford ain't bugging you about recalls on the engine or emissions or the tranny.
2.) You have no oil leaks from the rear main seal and your bottom is dry and not dripping ...(like a $50,000 vehicle should be.)
3.) You have no puking of coolant from the coolant reservior that your dealer can't diagnose.

I'd like to see the 6.0 owners here that can attest to the above conditions.

Who got a good 6.0?

I've got 2 6.0s,05 & 06 and neither have given me a real problem!! Great trucks great Motors!!

I have an 05 6.0 with 26,000 and have had nothing but good luck. Greatest truck I have ever owned. A few suspension issues that were taken care of when I first got it. Thats been it.

22,000+miles on an 05 6.0 with over 12,000 towing 14,000# 5er. Not one problem.
