3rd brake light/cargo light

Anybody find a 3rd brake light/cargo light that would fit on our 73-79 cabs??

I want the visibility of a 3rd brake light on my crewcab along with the illumination of a cargo light for the box area.

Any help appreciated....

I think they started putting 3rd brake lights on cars around 1986. I don't know about trucks. You could probably get one off of a newer truck and make it work. It would help to already have a cargo light. You would then just have to wire in a signal from the brake circuit.

My neighbor put some on his 1978 Ford and 1977 Ford, It's been awhile, but I think they were off a 1997 F series truck.

I guess I will have to go to the wreck yard and try to find one that will somewhat match up the curvature. Or, manufacture a type of spacer to work.

I am not sure, but I think cargo lights were an option on the 73-39 Trucks. I had a 77 F150 that had a cargo light with a switch inside the truck.

btacarlton, you are correct, and I remember seeing the cargo light sold in one of the FTE sponsors for 73-79 Ford trucks (national parts depot?), it would also be cool to have the third brake light and cargo light.

I would thing you take a new truck cargo/3rd brake light and maki work. I had a 94 Ranger that I liked the style of the cargo/3rd brake light from. You would just have to give it power from the brake switch and the dome light.
