Well, for those who don't know(I didn't) the MLP sensor is the Manual Lever Position sensor(I hate acronyms). From what I read this will give you a error code 67.
The first thing they say is to make sure the heat and AC controls are off. If they are on while reading the codes, it will give you a code 67.
Then they say if you have an E4OD in a pickup truck, and are getting code 67, take it to a transmission specialist. I hate books that tell you that.
From what I can tell, the MLP sensor goes to pin #30 and is a lightblue/white wire. In other applications, this #30 pin is called a NDS(Neutral Drive Switch). I can see this switch sending an on-off signal if you are in neutral or park, but I don't know what it does in the MLP manual lever position mode. I am guessing this sensor must be down inside the tranny or why would they want you to take it to a tranny shop?

Circuit #199 (Wire No.) is Light Blue wire wit a Yellow stripe and goes to pin#6 of the sensor plug.
Circuit #359 is a Gray with a Red stripe and goes to pin#7 of the sensor plug.
The above information are plug pin numbers for the AODE or 4R70W Transmission connector C1012 that plugs into the Transmission Range (TR) Sensor.
For the E40D Transmission #199 is pin #3 & 359 is pin #2 and the colors are the same as the 4R70W.
#199 (LB/Y) is Transmission Range (TR) Position Output.
#359 (GY/R) is Signal Return.
Franklin, Subford Thanks for the help. I was up till 2 in the morning look at that diagram. It seems like there is not enough info on the diagram. For the trans.
Subford where did you get your info?

The Manual Lever Position Switch is also called a TR Sensor. The Diagram calls it a Manual Lever Position Switch and the Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual calls it a TR Sensor.
I think you are working on a 1994 and the above information is from a 1994 Factory Truck Wiring Diagram by Ford.
Thanks. I was going crazy last night looking at my Haynes and Chilton.
Did you get them from e-bay?
I do not allow a Haynes or Chilton at my place, I hear they are good for starting a fire in a fireplace though.
Yes I did get those from eBay but I also buy from Helm Inc.
FWIW, you can download a copy of the service CD from www fordcds com (insert the dots). See page 149-10 of the EVTM .
For whatever reason, I can't directly cut and paste graphics from the service CD into something that will allow me to save it as a .jpg and allow it to be posted. My images always get cut in half vertically and the halves are swapped left/right.. Dunno why.

I was looking for a diagram of the trans range sensor plug.
I have everything I was looking for.
Accept for the inflated price of the part.
Thanks for the help.
