I just purchased an 01 F-150 4.6L 2wd automatic that has no forward gears -- reverse works fine. I pulled the transmission codes and it showed 8 different codes including a couple of codes for stuck torque converter, failure of a couple of shift solenoids, temperature input over and underrange, and overheating. After clearing codes I still get codes for temperature input underrange and overheating on a truck that isn't running. Fluid is at correct level and doesn't look or smell bad (not great but not "cooked").
The wiring appears to be intact and the engine runs fine.
I realize that I'm looking for "devine intervention" but I thought I would ask to see if there are any simple issues that would cause these symptoms or if a replacement/rebuild are my only options.
Don't laught too hard -- just tell me if "cooked" is the correct diagnosis.
