Slotted Screws

Any reason why I should keep my slotted screws (both machine and wood screws)?

I have a few hundred that are just collecting rust.

What did you do with yours?

Just curious.

personally, i sprinkle them and roofing nails in the grass in front of the house, from the road in about 3 foot in. the reason for doing this is paybacks to the rectal orifices down the street. if you insist on parking in front of MY house, with your junk on the grass, you are going to pay for it with flat tires.

i don't get mad..................i get even

I throw them away because if I have a use for them, I will find a way not to use them.

Although I hate using them, I keep them around for fixing/repairing some of the vintage items the wife and I collect (antique furniture, etc.).

Box them up and give them to the Salvation Army.

They will be used for what they were intended for if you do this.

Grind the threads off and use them as nails.

I usuallly just pitch them....

Unless they are some sort of more "special" screw like what is found in electrical boxes, outlets or panels.

Or save some time - get a BFH (big freakin hammer). Ignore the threads, just consider them "bonus traction". Build a nice compost setup or scrap wood rack to get some practice before you attempt this with a finish cabnetry project. Pilot holoes might help a little in oak or maple!
