i have a 64 ford f100 custom cab, i was wondering if there is a fuse box or any thing in them.
also i was wondering if anybody could help me with a problem, my back left taillight, the blinker wont work but my brake light and running light works just not the blinker. so if there is a fuse box would it be the fuse?
kind of strange. The other blinkers work OK, even the front? The brake lights and turn signal lights usually share the same "filament" inside the bulb. It is wierd that the brake light works but only one turn signal doesn't work. I have seen where the contacts get worn, or just don't make contact with the bulb though. If you turn on the lights and hit the brake switch, both still work, correct?
other blinker works fine, the front blinker just lights and stays light untill i turn the blinker off... as if the back light was broke right? it worked and then one day i was driving and i turned it on and it didnt blink... in the light bulb there are 2 filliments... yea both still work...
seetwisted, test where? the switch in the cab or in the part the bulb goes in?
also i have a problem with my interior dome light, brand new bulb and all.. cant get it to come on i wonder if theres a fuse bad for it (if the truck has fuses), but also the horn has been rewired over on the side kick pannel area (which is were the wires for the light go) so im not sure if the people before me did use the wires for the horn or something... (both wires still reach the light though)
Auto part houses usually have a little tester thing that looks like an ice pick with a light in the handle and a wire with an aligator clip leading from the back of the handle. You clip the wire to a ground source then touch the ice pick end to wires, terminals, fuses etc.If the light in the handle lights you have power. If you can't find some bare wire to touch, sometimes you have to push the point through the insulation to touch the wire.CAREFUL the insulation can be real hard to penetrate, whatch where your fingers are! With a little patience you can trace the power to where you lose it and find the problem. Try checking from your turn signal switch down.If every thing else is working, that is the only place that the power is separate. And if you lose the power going to the back signal then the front may come on but not blink because there won't be enough draw to make the blinker work. Let me know how your doing.
tx64f100tx, Seetwisted has given you some good advise. As for the dome light, it is activated by turning the headlight switch all the way to the left where it makes contact. Usually but not always, the dash light dimmer part of the switch will also be bad ( they are on the same circuit within the headlight switch and rely on the same contact.) This is an easy fix but requires that the H/L switch be removed from the dash. There is a release button on the switch that allows you to remove the **** and shaft all at once. Then unscrew the chrome ring that says "lights" and you practically have if out. Steve
