85 ranger seat interchange

Do you have a standard bench or a split bench/buckets? If you have the standard bench, you will need the seat tracks from a split bench/bucket seat Ranger. The tracks will have to come out of a Reg. Cab if your truck is a regular cab, or extended cab if your Ranger is an extended cab. Up to '88 tracks will interchange if I am not mistaken.
I got this information from another site, so don't hold me to it. They say that the following will fit:
Tempo/Topaz (all years)
Escort/Lynx (81-90)
Mustangs (no year specified, but I have seen Fox Body('79-'93) leather buckets in an '83-'88.)
Thunderbird (83-88)
If you find some seats you like, measure the seat-to-track mounting holes and see if they are the same as yours. Ford didn't vary much on their spacing. I got '99 Explorer Limited Buckets in my '95, there were several mounting options as far as seat-to-track bolt holes were concerned. My Ranger tracks didn't use the same holes as the Explorer tracks did, but the holes were still there and prethreaded. Hopefully this helps.
Also, I would assume that '84-'88 Bronco II buckets and '83-'88 Ranger buckets will fit, possibly later years in which you could include the Explorer, Mazda Navajo, Mazda B-Series, Mercury Mountaineer, '89-'90 BII, and later Ranger models.

I did this on my son's 89 and it was not fun. First look at the seat style and the bolt pattern on your current seat. If you are a standard bench then you will have to drill holes if you are up grading to a newer seat style. My son and I looked at the current pattern and then went to junk yard after junk yard till we found a seat. The problem is that 89 to 90 appeared to be the same pattern. The main issue is that my son's seat was 4 bolts on a bench and the split bnch was 8 holes. Someone tried to tell me that all the holes should be there even if they are not used and this proved incorrect. Best bet is to take a digital image of your current pattern and have that with you when or if you buy at a junk yard. The split bench offers other challenges once you get it in but they are minor. If you find one in good shape make sure you also grab the center portions of the seat belts since those will change also. End results-the seat works and looks great even though my son's truck is a standard cab. Good luck!
