Thanks for the feedback. This was just one items that I was looking into prior to purchacing a 2006. Sound like there is a lot of you pulling with this brake controller and very happy with it.
The factory controller is far superior. I have also towed with alot of different controllers, including the prodigy, and the factory controller is the best!
Factory controller rocks. However with all of the available error codes, an old trailer that was previously controlled with an aftermarket box woll give you trouble until you fix all the small problems associated with old trailers. Which is probably a good thiung to do anyway!
I have a 2006 Ford F350 Dually with the factory installed brake controller that I use to tow my 11000 lb 5th wheel. all works well. For the ease of getting into smaller areas for fishing, I have put a large Truck Camper on the truck and I would like to be able to tow my Jeep with the same equipment. My question is; the Jeep has a Unified Tow Brake from a previous matchup. I don't have the original controller. Does anyone know if the Ford Factory installed controller is compatible with the Unified Tow Brake?
There is a sensor on the brake reservoir/master cylinder which makes the controller very smooth, it senses the actually amount of brake applied as opposed to the force that a conventional controller uses.
