Ok I had a CEL and got a P0401. After reading a few threads on this site, I went ahead and replaced the DPFE sensor. The light is off but it still idles a lil rougher than I would like. Does this mean that I might need a new EGR valve also??
Any help is appreciated!!

Reason: oops
While you were installing the new DPFE, did you pull the ECM fuse for say 15-20 minutes, to erase the computers old idle strategy it had learned with the defective DPFE????
If not, maybe trying that, so the computer can relearn & reset itself, with the new DPFE, will help tweak & smooth things out.

Just a thought for consideration.
When I installed the DPFE, I disconnected the NEG Battery cable.
If the 401 code does not come back then your EGR system is fine.
Just a thought: your truck hasn't been losing any coolant lately, has it? When my '98 4.0L had a leaky lower intake gasket it would have a rough idle after a cold start, but then after the engine warmed up and the cylinders were burned clean the idle would be fine. Even had some cold misfiring at times. Coolant level would be fine for a few weeks, then one day it would be low. Looked all over for the cause, eventually I had an oil analysis done and the results confirmed that coolant was getting into the oil.
