I took the 71 in yesterday to have the rust repaired ie..floorpans & cab mounts. The guy was recommended to me by a good friend who has his own body shop (he doesnt do structural work). The shop owner suggested to me that after all repairs were made that I let him coat the entire floor of the cab with a spray in bedliner. He has a car he is restoring that he wants to do that to also and he said he would split the cost of the kit with me. Has anyone done this and if so are you glad you did?
Also I would imagine that this would reduce road noise and heat in the cab. Anyone have an opinion on whether or not I should do it?
You should do it, i am gonna do it on the 78's floorpan i just haven't got the money yet. I plan on doin the whole underside, floorpan and bed in my 66 you should do it.

Bedliners are the wrong product for doing this. I used it on the inside of my cab but it was after using Por15 on the metal. The point is that the metal needs to be treated with a product that is designed for that. Eastwood and Por15 have products that will bind to rust / metal and seal it for good. A bed liner will seal for a while but it just seems to porous and tends to get holes where water could get in. For the time and money, I'd get a product specifically made for the job.
The Por15 is a very hard chip-proof system and is easy to clean because it's very smooth. I'd hate to see the bedliner get a small hole then trap water and you're right back where you started. Keep the bedliner on the bed or on inside type things.
If you do this, at least get a good epoxy primer and paint on the metal first.
Assuming that this guy has fixed your rust problems, I would just buy some of the "Jute" padding that is available from any of the aftermarket parts guys. It is pre-cut, cheap, will cover the entire floor area, and will do a better job of sound/heat reduction. Also, it would be removable if you wanted to at a later date!
