i am swapping an 89 built 5.0 ho from a mustang into my 77 f-150 4x4
and getting rid of a wore out 400 ...it has a np435 granny 4 spd
i bought a new 11" flywheel for a 1989 f-150 so it would have the 50oz
counterbalance ( i hope that will work )
as far as a clutch goes i was gonna get a new clutch again for a 89 model
but the 4-spd in the 89 is called a t-18 i have a clutch on the 400
and it is in good shape ....anyone know if it would work ?
You already have the correct bell housing for the 5.0 to NP435, I assume, and have all the other aggravations associated with that awkward swap sorted out, like mount tower location, clutch linkage adaptation (all custom..there is no place to even bolt a mechanical clutch linkage to the 5.0, not to mention the stock 77 clutch linkage would not fit any 302 either)..etc.. You will need a clutch for the 5.0 164t flywheel and with the 1-1/16-10 tranny input spline on the disc. In 77-79, the T-18 was same as the NP-435 input..can't say about the '89..if still that then you will be fine with the '89 clutch for the T-18.
