Clutch slips, has for a while. I have researched and clutch is the 12" Long style. I have replacement pressure plate and disk, but due to length of slippage the flywheel may ned to be replaced. What other flywheels will work like factory stock for my truck?
Thanks,
Rich
The only other engines that used the same type of 12" clutch were the 360/390FE, the 460, and the 6.9L diesel. None of those engines' flywheels are interchangeable with the 400 flywheel.
With the OEM-type 12" clutch, the only options you have are an original '77-'82 400 flywheel (#D7TE-6375-B), the current Ford service replacement part (#E5TZ-6375-H), or an aftermarket OEM-style flywheel (I think one of the major clutch manufacturers makes one, but I can't remember who).
If you're willing to use a different clutch, you can grab any 351M or 400 flywheel at the junkyard, and then get a pressure plate and disk to match it.
