?called Dealer Today

Just to see when I should get my first oil chanage(has 2300 miles now) he told me when it gets to 6500 call him and they will chanage it. Am i wrong or should I wait that long.and all the talk about them reflashing without you knowing about it bothers me.thinking maybe i should go to jiffy lube or some other place.

NEVER TAKE YOUR TRUCK TO JIFFY LUBE OR ANY OF THOSE OTHER "QUICK CHANGE" OUTFITS!

I cannot stress that enough. Most of the people there are more concerned with commission sales for items you don't need and have NO CLUE as to the workings of a diesel engine such as the one in your truck. Overfilling and underfilling the engine with oil, both bad. Frequently you will get cheap Chinese made filters installed. Your automatic transmission has fluid that is currently only available from Ford. They may try to tell you it needs to be flushed and filled with Mercon. Want to buy a new transmission?

If you don't take it to the dealership, take your truck to a competent garage or do the work yourself. Changing the oil on these beasts is not rocket science, especially if you install a Fumoto valve on the oil pan.

IF YOU CARE FOR YOUR TRUCK, DON'T EVER LET IT DARKEN THE DOOR OF A JIFFY LUBE! Just my two cents, your mileage may vary.

I brought my truck into the dealership today for the first oil change. I had 3470 miles. I mainly wanted to get it done because I'm going on some extended trips and I knew the tech that does the oil changes on most of the diesels. Since I've got the maintenance plan through FORD and get unlimited oil changes I decided to get it done at the first 3500.

I'm wondering which maintenance plan you have. I'm thinking about buying one and have been looking at them, I don't see one that says unlimited oil changes, they are either every 5k or 7.5k up to 100k miles or 6 years whichever occurs first. If you can give me the name of the plan you have I will ask the dealer about it.
thanks

I just had the dealer do my first oil change (free), with just over 2000 miles on my 06' F-350 6.0,,, the service manager advised I should let it go to 3000 miles,,but I was there then so had them do it, already over 2200 miles so wasnt worth another trip to the dealer for me.

I change the oil in my vehicles (both diesel and gas) at 3k miles. It is not necessary on the diesel engines, but I would rather change it too often than not often enough.

It's your cash, but that's a LOT of oil to be changing that often. Better to put in a secondary filter system if you are THAT worried!

Changing the oil is so easy on these things. Get a Fumoto Valve, stock up on filters and enjoy.
