Ok, this is probably a pretty dumb question for this forum, but I am new at the 4X4 Deal. Ok, so here comes the stupidty, hehe. What is a leveling kit? Now I keep hearing about leveling kits and I am getting confused. I know what the lift kits are, but I am assuming the leveling kit is different, right? Or is it just another name for a lift kit? From what I have read, I thought a leveling kit just leveled out the front end of the truck to match the rear end. But I am just assuming here, so I would rather ask then assume, so ..........
I have the 2.5" autospring installed and it did not change the stock ride at all. All you are doing is putting in a metal block ontop of the spring. You are not change the spring rate at all. The only thing that changed my stock ride was the bigger tires. Boy do they make a huge difference. Throw thoes damn Continentla General tires and get some BFGs!!!
They just make your truck look more like a 4x4 instead of a regular F-150. No noticable change in the ride. And I agree with the above reply, factory tires are pretty much LAME, I love my BFG's too. I have not put my truck in 4 wheel drive sinse I put the BFG's on. Am about to get some American Racing Mojave aluminum/black wheels to boot. That way if the tranny fries maybe I can slap the stock tires and wheels back on and FORD don't deny my warranty, because they CAN, I have been told.
I used the Autospring kit found on Ebay and installed it on my 04 Scab 4x4. Relativly easy installation and have noticed no problems with the kit so far. Just be sure and get the alignment checked after installing. This raised the front of the truck almost 2.5".
I have a 2004 screw FX, will these recommended leveling kits work as well? I was not sure it there was a huge difference in the regular 4X4 and FX4 heights.
As far as I know these kits will work on all models as long as the right year is selected when you order them. It took me about 1.5 hours for the 1st side, then about 1 hour for the 2nd one. If I can install them, ANYONE can. I'm thinking the STX, FX4 etc. are all built the same, just some have fancier options and stuff on them. I chose the STX so I could get the waterhose after the floorboard if I wanted to. And no annoying electrical window and lock motors to go out after time.
Autospring from ebay. I paid $100 shipped and the install is simple. I just couldnt hit the spindle hard enough to let it pop of. But that is totally a diff story
