This past weekend, I finally ditched my Predator tuner and installed one of Jody's chips from DP Tuner. Now, it takes a lot to really impress me, and I was expecting to see some performance increase when compared to my Predator, but WOW, I wasn't expecting to notice that much of a difference. Honestly, I was truly impressed. The 80 hp setting on the chip doesn't even compare to the 85 hp setting on the Predator, it flat blows it out of the water. My settings are stock, 40 tow, 80 econ, 100hp, 120hp, and high idle @ 1100 RPM.
A few other things I noticed that wasn't expecting, are lower EGTs and less smoke, all with more power. And I especially like that the TC doesn't unlock when I hit the brakes anymore. I guess all the work I went to to wire up the TC lock switch so I can use the EBPV for a brake, won't be needed as much anymore. Oh well.
I also did my own version of the regulated fuel return and air bleed, which I'm sure accounted for some of the power, but that chip is the most of it. I'll have a post on that soon. I haven't gotten to play with the chip that much, as I was already making 30+ psi of boost before Jody's chip, and I'm waiting on some turbo upgrades to get here before I push it too hard. I don't want to blow something up.
If anyone is considering one of these chips, I urge you to go for it. Like I said, it takes a lot to really impress me, and I'm impressed!!
Sweet im planning on gettin one soon, My 7.3 is just not fast enough I have the Edge J/A stacked with the evo and im starting to think edge is just crap. I just want to be able to smoke my buddies stock 5.3 chevy, granted my truck is lifted with 38's and it does move for a big truck, but i can get him off the line and up high well cause he governs out, but its inbetween, its deffenitly where my truck lags. It does have 3.73 gears still but it pulls so hard down low i dont want to regear and i dont tow much. Does anyone have experience with the 140 horse setting?. sorry im not looking into hijacking this thread. later Chase.
I believe Strokin has the 140 setting. And he replaced the same setup you have. I decided against it because when I talked to Jody about it, he said that the stock injectors simply can't keep up with that setting. I didn't figure I'd be needing more than 120 hp until I get some different injectors anyway, so I went with what I feel is a more useable setting.
Yeah thats what i figure, but Im going to get that to so as soon as I get better injecters ill be ready, lol. I just cant have this little girl chevy gaser being faster in mid race. Im also planning on getting stacks from Blackcloud just for the big rig look. lol. Later chase
JT, are you running the Blue CPS with that chip? I'm planning to get the chip very soon from Jody myself, but after reading the results in the other thread I'm wondering if I'll do any damage in the long run with ol blue installed.

Yes, I am running the Blue CPS. But, most of my driving is under light load right now, so I'm not too worried about it. I'm following the Blue CPS thread though, to see if there will be any huge differences in timing.
Disposable income, or the lack thereof. I don't use credit cards so I have to save up for major purchases. Wife needs a car so that's our focus right now. But I have to make some room for this one, I think.
I've got the 6-way DP chip also...ain't life grand? I emailed Jody last week about the blue CPS and he was trying to find some time to get some trucks tested to find out exactly what the blue CPS was doing.
He did say that he had a couple of customers have their blue CPS fail pretty shortly after installation, but I read on one post that someone had a similar problem.
I run the 80 HP mode pretty much standard when I'm not towing and the 40 or 60 HP settings when I'm pulling the travel trailer or boat.
I was thnking about keeping mine just for the code reading, but I've now re-thought it and my Diablo Predator will be sold so I can buy the Autoenginuity software instead. The Predator will probably go on eBay before too long.
