460 with overdrive?

460 with overdrive?
I have a 460 and C-6 in a '76 F-250 4X4 HighBoy that needs an overdrive automatic in a bad way! Is there an auto that will work? Or is it possible to install a late model computer controlled tranny and make it work or is there any add on overdrive units that will mate to my C-6? Everybody has helped alot in the past and I know you can help me on this one!

Have a 77 and am considering the same issue- I think that given the price and durability of later OD automatics, and the retrofit issues (linkages, electronics if needed), and the unique fact that highboys have a divorced transfer case, I would consider putting an add-on OD unit behind your C-6 (Gear Vendors and others are available) I THINK- this is a mental exercise only at this point- that by shortening the short driveshaft between tranny and NP 205 that you can get one in there. Anybody out there done this? They make a Gear splitter box that goes in FRONT of the NP 435 that would also work in these applications- gives you 8 speeds. Just some ideas...
