Folks!
A slight delima here. When I bought my truck the sticker said it had a 3.73 differential, and yes I paid extra for it. Yesterday when I installed my new Edge Evolution, it said I had 3.55's. Other than taking it to a dealer and explaining what I have just explained to you all. (not a good Idea) How can I find out exactly what differential I have in my truck. I have an 04 F-150 STX 4x4 scab. Any thoughts or ideas would be most helpful.
That's weird, I plugged mine in and went to a defalt of 3.73 gears, when I have 3.55. I dont know why that is. Anyway, check out this thread that I started a few weeks ago because I was unsure of my ratio- "Whats my gear ratio" https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=458958
I would take what your tuner says with a grain of salt. It's best just to adjust it to where it needs to be. The tuner doesnt always pull the info correctly.
Check the tag affixed to the rear differential. It should have a code on it, telling you what the gearing is. Post the code here if you cant decipher it.
The one I was looking at that made most sinse said "3L73 88 3K02". And the sticker on the door frame said B6 under axle. One would think that would translate to 3.73/limited slip???
Can someone tell me what ratio I have.
55 975 5B10
Its an 05 150 XLT w/ no tow package.
Thanks all.
By the numbers you provided, you should have 3.55 gear ratio, and 9.75" ring/diff. If the 2 digit axle code on your door jam sticker has a letter and a number (ex. B6)-then it is limited slip, if it is 2 numbers (ex. 19)-then it is not limited slip. Hope this helps.
Well then I got a good one for ya! My Axle code on the door sticker says 26. It is an 04 SCREW 4x4 Lariat. What axle do I have? I would imagine it would be a 3.73 LS because it is part of the package but who knows?
So with a 3.55 Non LS axle, is it ok to tow? I wont be hauling very often but I will be draging a tandem axle UHaul across coutry with 2-4K pounds of stuff next spring (1 shot). and ocassionaly a camping trailor but nothing over 5000 pounds. How much trouble to have the rear end changed to 3.73 if I need to.?
Just a question, but what size axles do these trucks have, 8.8 or 9.75? Looking at two of the replies, one truck has an 8.8 rear end and another has a 9.75 rear end? Does the axle actually vary among the truck lines (XLT, FX4, Lariat)? Or does the HD package give you a larger axle?
