well if you look in my gallery under "other crap" and look at the axle codes chart you can see that ford never used 3.08 they used 3, 3.25, 3.5, 3.7 and 4.11. now dana use a 3.07 and a 3.54 but not ford and not in the 9".
Part of the reason you never use a straight 3 or 4 to 1 ratio is from a design point you do not want the same gear teeth always contacting as they will with those numbers. by using a 3.07 or a 2.93 or a 3.91 or 4.09 and so on the teeth all mess with one another during used which spread the wear and provides a longer quieter life.
i dont see how that would change anything, i know what ratios were used and im done argueing with you this is pointless the fact is i know the truth.
I would expect that from you. I guess all the other engineers have all wrong too huh? They should follow your advise and just make 3 to 1 and 4 to 1 rear axle because it has NO EFFECT on service life and noise level. And it is just a fluke the tranny ratio are like 1.43 or 3.93 or 2.45 and so on. Just because you do not understand why, it does not make it untrue. You are not argueing with me, you are just in denial
The Ford 9" came in a 3.00 ratio, my friend. It never came in a 3.08 ratio. Gears don't care what the ratio is. It's not going to wear anything unevenly if the ratio happens to be a whole number. It makes NO SENSE whatsoever. This is yet ANOTHER example of when you are caught making stuff up and then attacking people when they call you on it.
i guess he is just mad becuase a 16 year old called him on something that his previous expeiences couldent back up this time. oh well and thank you andym.

Oh.... and I guess you never heard of a tranny with a 1:1 4th gear ratio?
wow, ya'll guys shut him up good, nice.
I was going to mention the 1:1 ratio in od trannys that I have seen.
Anyways, anybody ever heard of reprograming the valve body in a c6 to run in a low range? A good friend of mine who is a traveling mechanic said when he rebuilt his c6 for his bronco he set up the tranny to run in low range so he could run 36s with 3:55 gears.
no but i would really like to know how because i have 32s and 3.50s and a c6 and when its cold and i need to get goin quick cause im running late i have to put the t-case in low and barely give it gas and wait for it to move.
My tranny hesistates when its cold but once it warms up it runs good and doesent slip any that I can tell, it also has very little to no slip.
When I get on the gas it feels like the torque converter locks up and the rear squats ans she moves. It will even spin the tires pullling out sometimes onto the street if I put my foot down, and not flooring either.
