Carriage Works Grill Replacement
Carriage Works Grill Replacement
I just purchased the Carriage Works Grill that replaces my bar grill. Anyone have any experience with this? This is NOT a bolt over and it requires some "cutting" I guess. I also got the bumper grill to match. Any heads up would be nice
No cutting.....you just unbolt the old plastic one and bolt on the new one....the only alteration is 4 screws in the bottom of the grill surround. Very easy....about 45 min, if you take your time and follow the instructions. The nice thing about this grill, is you dont have that small piece of colored plastic between the grill and the surround (the grill covers it all).
Yes, it will fit. The surround remains the same factory piece. I installed both upper and lower grill replacements from carriage works last year and have had no problems. Ive had the factory lo-profile bug shield since day one, and nothing changed. The grill combo looks great if you're into a clean look. My FX4 is silver and the billet blends everything together.

Can you take a pic of the grill and the bug deflector? I am thinking of taking it off since the only black that will match the deflector is my lower spoiler...Still skeptical about it. I also have the eyelids on there and the eyelids and the deflector doesnt want to fit too well with each other. The bug deflector already scratched the eyelids quite badly. But once the hood is down, you cant see it thank god. I was planning on removing the deflector tommorow, taking the eyelids off, sanding it down, primer it, paint it, wet sand it, clear coat the *******, and put it back on with the grill. Please post a pic for me because if I like the look of it, I wouldnt bother repainting my eyelids (will have to due to the scratching. If i keep the deflector on, I dont need to repaint.) Thanks fellows

installed and it looks AWESOME!!
p.s. I scratched the ***** out of the bumper because one of the screws that goes under the outer shell of the grill wasnt sitting flush to the outer shell...So touch up paint time..

What kind of grill did you have before the new one. I guess what im asking is what did it look like. They told me that if you have whats called the work truck grill that that grill will not fit. Im just trying to figure out what i have before i order something i cant use.
if you have a F-150, its either a Honeycomb grill (XL, XLT, Lariat) or a Bar Styel Grill (STX, FX). This partnumber can be used for any grill for a F-150. It replaces the whole grill assembly.
yeah, is300wrx is right. This model replaces the whole bar assembly. It can be used with either stock style. The overlay ones are only good for the honeycomb grills. I'll try to get some pics of the grill and deflector up soon. I'm probable the worlds biggest procrastinator. Heck, I've only had the truck for 2 years and have yet to set up a gallery for the sight. I'm having a Line-X sprayed in shortly and I have a tonneau cover on order so I'll do it all at once.
but back to the carriage works, shotout is right on with the attached links.

I just put the deflector on and i think it does flow nice with the black mirrors and the black running boards. It balances out the top part of the truck...I just wish I can take back and screw those scews in tighter so that I didnt scratch up my loewrbumper when i closed the hood....Damn it.
Don't bother putting those four rubber stick-on pads either. There supposed to line up under those four screws incase the hood drops down too far. Problem is, after one or two good washes, they fall off and you're left with four sticky round circles on your bumper instead. Of course, that would be better than the scratches you've "installed". Sorry.

Oh well, touch up paint, here i come
