I have an 88 bronco II 4x4 with the automatice tranny. I have never owned one or anything with four wheel drive. My question is, is it normal when i put it in gear like Drive or Reverse to jerk pretty hard? I mean its not really drastic, just enough for me to wonder why it does that. At first i thought it might be in 4wd and that all the wheels were trying to pull when i dropped it in gear, but the front wheels spin freely and i have the 4wd turned off. I had a first gen chevy s10 with a 355 and 4:11 gears and it would jerk about the same when i put it in gear. Thats understandable though with the power. Surely the big bad 2.9 wouldnt have the same effect. I have changed my transmission fluid and filter and everything so i am unsure whats going on. My dad said he had a 4wd jeep and his shifted like that so i'm guessin maybe its just low gear ratios since its 4wd. Thanks for any suggestions.
i think most trannys do that.(not anymore in 2000 up modles) If i remeber right my parents had an 80's b II with an auto that did that same thing. Funny we had the same color as yours as well. Maybe you have our old one ( lol, fat chance are old one was ready for the junkyard when we where done with it) I now own a 1987 bronco II sence i liked our old on so much as a kid, but mines manual. ( i dont like slush boxes)
