I am replacing my power steering pump and i used a pully puller to get the old pulley off, but how in the world do I get the new one on. the new pump came with a bolt the you use to bolt the pulley to the shaft but I cant get the pulley to go down on the shaft.

When I did mine I had to use the same puller that I took it off with to put it back on. It wasn't my puller so I don't really remember how it worked. I do remember it had two halfs and it clamped around the end of the pulley. I think it was a mac Puller. I wish I could remember how it worked?
People who say it can't be done should not interrupt the person doing it.
I just did mine last summer and after buying the new pump I tried to remove the old pullie and nearly broke it. I ended up taking it to a machine shop and for $7.50 they did it for me and explained that these pullies can't be done properly with a standard puller.
The bolt should go into the center hole and the nut should be turned to force the pullie into position.
When we remove my pulley off of my power steering pump we used an air hammer with a pointed impact. I held the pulley while my dad hit the center with the air hammer my hands went numb from the vibration but we got the pulley off. I think to get the pulley on the new power steering pump he just pounded it on with a hammer but im not sure.
