Another newbie question here, the 64 3/4 ton I just aquired has a stepside bed that the previous owner says is not the long bed, not a short bed, but is in between. He claims it is kind or rare, wasn't offered in all years, etc. Any truth to this, or is it time for myth-busters? Oh, another thing, he says it is a f260. The title says model is "2600" . Is this just a regular 3/4 ton? It has full floater 8 lug Dana 60 rear and Dana 44 front axle.
64F260, There is no F260 truck, tis a F250. The F26 is the desigination for 4X4. The F100 desigination is F11. Measure the bed length and post it here.
Jowilker knows his stuff. if you post your Vin, someone here can translate what it was exactly. 2600 on your title for the Model would have to be a mistake. Chevy and Dodge use 4 digit model numbers, Ford uses a letter and 3 digits. F100, F250, F350, F450, M250, E250, P250, ect. (F for Ford, M for Mercury, -Canadian trucks. E for Econo line, P for Panel van, ect.)
As for medium bed, I suppose its possable. The leingth of the short bed was 6 feet, with the long bed being 8 feet. A 7 foot bed wouldn't be something you would buy in the dealership though. Most likely it would have to be a fleet purchase, or a conversion company like the ones who built the cargo van bodies for ford. The wheel base will tell you if ford built it, or if it was a conversion. Measure yours is the best way to know. Post some pics, I'd like to see what a medium bed looks like.
