Sweet cjben, McMurray is cool now. Right now I'm to busy worryin' about gettin' my grades up for the upcoming monster jam to keep up with NASCAR. The jam is on saturday and sunday is the race. Looks to be a rockin' weekend.
Why is Daytona the "Big Race" ? Why get excited over any plate race? I can simulate the same thing at home with a couple of Lionel trains and track laid out in an oval. Mark Martin said it best last year when he said the cars have out grown the track, and they need to take out the banking. Even Tony Stewart said someone is going to get killed at the current pace.
I would Love to see NASCAR get rid of plate races and only race at each track only once a year.
I agree, the plate will get some one killed but Nascar loves the tight racing, makes for a better race with the cars all bunched up together, most of the drivers know that there is a good possibly some would could take a nasty crash, they choose to race anyway, I guess it's in the blood or all about the big pay checks
Daytona 500 is like Nascar's Superbowl, Daytona track is by far my favorite track, wouldn't mind seeing 4 races a year there..
A few of my friends and myself are trying to make the Dallas race, wish I could have made the Daytona race this weekend, some of the guys had other obligations.

Can't stand plate racing, either. I just love how the NASCAR spin machine says plate racing is a "necessary evil". What? Daytona and Talladega are dinosaurs compared to the cars that race on them. Either tear down the banking or take 'em off the circuit. If anybody wants to see a great race, head to Darlington or Martinsville before NASCAR rips them off the schedule for good.
Dale jr. said he'll win 6 race before the chase, I would love to see that happen but that will be hard to do, but if anyone in Nextel can do it's Lil E.
Plate racing is really, really boring and unsafe. There's so little the driver can do to position the car to take the lead and hold onto the lead once it's taken.
After all the noise drivers have made about the requirement for plates I feel it will be up to the fans to bring about a change. Nascar has gotten too far into managing a business and image than about promoting and permitting good racing. What was that freaking penalty on Edwards for dodging the pitting cars all about. It is time for an indy car-like split from the Frances' little PC club and onto some good racing.
