Shop Floor Pulling Anchors

In my 35 years of bodyshop and repair business, one of the most important features of the shop buildings was what we put into our concrete floor. When we set up the rebar we placed a 2 foot length of 1/2 chain around the intersection of the rebar. we covered this with a 6" piece of 4" pvc pipe. The top of the pipe was even with the finished height of the floor. The length of chain was inside the piece of pipe. We laid out several of these in a square pattern. The idea behind this is, you can pull a vechicle over this area, and using the chain in the pipe, attach another piece of chain to it and to the frame of a vechicle then when you need to bend a frame or hold it in place for what ever reason you can with little effort.
Kinda like a poor boy frame machine. No way will you pull up the floor while you are jacking on a frame.

Shop Floor Pulling Anchors

This is a different idea than the other post [link:www.ford-trucks.com/dcforum/DCForumID75/475.html|For those with inclined driveways]. There would not be anything above the garage floor. You would still have to watch where you stepped:-)

Thanks for using FTE!

Shop Floor Pulling Anchors

You're right. Great idea - floor anchors. I just "moved in" to my new shop. I put 5/16" grade 70 chain down into the pilings with about 18" remaining loose in a 4" square tube, flush with the floor. Anything can be anchored down with chain and load binders. Always finding new uses for them!

Any chance you guys could take detailed pictures of the end-results? I'd like to see this idea.

Thanks!
